Get Your Office Fall-Ready | 4 DIY Cleaning Tips

Woman with cleaning suppliesBy now, you’re an expert at sprucing up your home for fall—inside and out. Why not use some of that know-how for the office?

You spend 40 or more hours a week in your office, so prepping it for colder weather just makes sense. Let us share with you 4 fall-friendly cleaning tips to ready your office.

DIY Cleaning Tip #1: Use Entrance Mats

Using entrance floor mats for protection is probably one of the smartest and most useful things you can do for the office during cold & flu season. They trap in dirt and other germs that would otherwise be tracked into the office by customers and/or employees.

DIY Cleaning Tip #2: Clean Windows

Don’t think clean windows are a major office cleaning necessity? Think again. Windows are the first thing a customer sees when walking into your business. Dirty windows also decreases the amount of sunlight let into the office–an essential need to help boost morale during the gloomier days of fall. Routine window cleaning can make all the difference–and doing also saves you money!

DIY Cleaning Tip #3: Clear out Gutters

Let’s not forget about the outside of the office. Having your gutters cleaned may not fall to the top of the list when thinking about office cleaning, and yet it is pertinent that it gets done.

Your roof’s drainage system annually diverts thousands of gallons of water from your house’s exterior and foundation walls. That’s why it is so important to keep this system flowing smoothly. If your office building has a gutter system, be sure to clear out any debris or falling leaves to prevent a clog in the drainage system . Clogged drains can cause water damage and leaves the building vulnerable to mold.

DIY Cleaning Tip #4: Hire a Professional Cleaning Company

Now, this goes without saying, but every fall we recommend that you hire a professional cleaning company to clean your office. With cold and flu season upon us, you are more likely to keep doors and windows shut, decreasing ventilation and air quality; and increasing allergens and dirt build-up. A clean office equates to healthier employees, so do everyone at the office a favor and have your office professionally cleaned this fall!

We have hardwood floors throughout our home, and I absolutely love them. But I struggled for months after we had them installed to find a floor cleaner that cleaned without streaking. I could never find a mop pad that really cleaned well either.
