Keep an Office Cleaning Schedule

If you handle the cleaning of your office or work space yourselves (rather than contracting through a professional service), a cleaning schedule with required duties is helpful to post, along with the person responsible.

Front & Center

Pay special attention to the front entrance or reception area of your space, as that’s the area everyone sees and gives the first impression of your business.

  • Sweep the area in front of your business and check for trash or debris daily.
  • Keep the reception area free of clutter by stacking magazines or utilizing a wall rack.

  • Ensure floors are swept and vacuumed or mopped

If you have plants in your reception area, keep them looking healthy – Nothing gives off a dingy and neglected vibe more than dead plants!

Office Bathroom Cleaning: Simplified

Bathrooms are another area where cleanliness is absolutely non-negotiable. In fact, everyday, you should do the following:

  • Wipe down sinks and mirrors
  • Scrub toilet and toilet bowls
  • Sweep and mop floors
  • Remove garbage from every recepticle
  • Refill paper towels, toilet tissue, hand soap, etc.

Zap Germs in Breakrooms & Office Kitchen Areas

In the workplace, breakrooms and kitchen areas are where employees go to unwind, grab a bite for lunch, and spread germs – yep, you read that right! Breakrooms and kitchens overflow with germs, so put these spaces at the top of your cleaning to-do list. Everyday, you should:

  • Wash and put away dishes
  • Discard old food items
  • Clean countertops
  • Toss expired foods and drinks in the refrigerator

What if I’ve Hired a Commercial Cleaning Professional?

If you’ve hired a professional cleaning service to clean your office, make sure they’re covering the essentials. Often, companies provide an itemized list of their services with costs for you to determine how much you’d like to outsource. If they don’t have a list, provide them yours.

Depending on cost, you may determine that some duties can be performed twice per week, for example, rather than daily (kitchens and bathrooms need to stay on the daily list!). Most cleaning services are flexible and will work out all the details with you. Make sure you get what you pay for, though. Inspect their work and hold them accountable for keeping their end of the contract.

Thanks, for sharing. I have got an office which sometimes I am unable to clean. At least the list of tools you have shared and how to clean each room will make things easier. You have categorized the cleaning of each room in the office very well and detailed. It is a very informative article for someone who is busy and don't have time to clean the office
