“The Woodard Way contains the fundamentals of our company. Our core values and purpose stem from my grandfather and his history. During WWII, my grandfather was aboard a Boeing B-17 and as they flew over Nazi occupied Germany in northern France, the plane was hit with massive flak completely damaging the plane. The captain immediately ordered everyone to evacuate the plane; half of the men were immediately captured by the Nazis and the other half (including my grandfather) were rescued by the members of the French Resistance. Over the course of the next two months, he was smuggled through France walking through the Pyrenees Mountains to get to Spain. A variety of people helped my grandfather evade capture from the Germans. He was provided fake papers from Paris in order to make his way past German guards and onto Spain, ending up in a Spanish prison. A negotiation was made allowing him to return to the United States. He then began the Woodard Cleaning Company alongside my grandmother Nancy.

It all started with the French people helping my grandpa literally get back to his life; without them, he would have ended up in a Nazi concentration camp and unable to get back to his life. Woodard today is an extension of what the French people did for my grandfather. Today, our focus, our mission, our purpose for existence is to help people get back to their lives.” - Justin Woodard, President
