Frequently Asked Questions

I just had a small fire, what should I do?

Even a small fire can cause extensive damage. Your primary concern should be the safety of your family. Also, your first reaction is to start to clean up, but incorrect action could cause more damage. Call your insurance company as soon as you can and ask that they call Woodard.

In the mean time, open windows for ventilation (if weather permits) and keep children and pets out of the damaged area. If it is winter and your heat is off, pour antifreeze in your toliet bowls, tanks, sinks, and tube drains to prevent your pipes from freezing.

Do not turn on any electronics until your sure that they have not received any smoke damage. In many cases, electronics can be saved after a fire if handled by a professional restoration company, like Woodard.

Do not use any food items or canned goods exposed to heat and do not attempt to wipe soot off walls, ceilings, or other absorbent surfaces.
